Marlborough is situated at the top of New Zealand's South Island, just a short distance across Cook Strait to New Zealand's capital city of Wellington. Marlborough's main township is Blenheim, where all domestic flights land. The other main settlements are Picton and Havelock, both are seaport towns approximately 25-30 minutes drive from Blenheim. Picton is the main gateway to the Queen Charlotte Sound, with Havelock being the main access to the Pelorus and Kenepuru Sound.
International travel to New Zealand is available through a range of providers, one of which being Air New Zealand. International flights arrive in the major centres of Auckland and Wellington in the North Island and Christchurch in the South Island. Once in New Zealand there is an extensive domestic air service linking all major centres and most of the smaller cities and towns.

The Interisland Ferry's depart Wellington for Picton on a regular basis, the Lnyx fast ferry service takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes to cross Cooks Strait, while the larger ferry's take approximately 3 hours.
